J&K: Attracting attention of visiting Advisor proves costly for Badharwah Sarpanchs, Booked for ‘disobedience’

BADHARWAH: Police booked at least persons after they staged a protest during the official visit of Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Farooq Khan in Chenab Valley of Badharwah town of district Doda.

The protesters carrying banners and placards had assembled on Bhaderwah-Pul Doda road demanding road connectivity to their panchayats. Locals and Panchayat members from Badharwah region were part of the protest.

Among those booked four are Sarpanchs and one is a government teacher.

Pertinently, Advisor to Governor Farooq Khan yesterday visited Bhaderwah area of Doda and reviewed the development scenario of the district.

Advisor, while assessing progress on PMGSY roads, asked the concerned agency to verify all the commissioned roads and ensure all are through for transportation.

The Sarpanchs and locals in a bid to attract the attention of the Advisor about poor road connectivity had organized a protest. Police however booked them for violating Covid-19 related SOPs.

A police official while confirming it told news agency Kashmir News Trust that these people have been booked under FIR number 118/2021 under section 188 IPC, 51 DM Act 2005 read with Sec-3 Epidemic Disease Act 1997 for blocking the road at Kulshari near Petrol pump when Farooq Khan, advisor to LG was on way to Bhaderwah on an official visit to address public issues.
