Kupwara: Locals from Drugmulla area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district Monday staged a protest against the absence of doctors and Para-medical staff from Community Health Centre. They also raised slogans against PDD alleging that despite paying fatty bills, Drugmulla and its adjacent areas are reeling under darkness.

Eyewitnesses told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a large number of people assembled at Drugmulla Chowk and held a demonstration against the non-availability of doctors and Para-medic staff at Community Health Centre, Drugmulla.

They said that making Covid-19 an excuse, this Community Health Centre have been deprived of the staff.

“When you are going to deploy doctors for Covid-19 duties only, then who is going to take care of common patients,” the protesters said and alleged that patients have been suffering immensely due to the callous attitude of the Health Services officials.

They said not a single Covid-19 related case has been reported from the area and still, doctors and Para-medical staff have been posted for Covid-19 duties.

The protesters also raised slogans against Power Development Department for failing to provide electricity. “PDD even doesn’t follow its own schedule and resorts to power cuts at will. We pay hefty power bills but poor services,” they said. (KNT)
