Fire incident guts Masjid Ibrahim (AS) in Raj Bagh Silk Factory area

 

Srinagar, Dec 19, KNT: A devastating fire completely gutted a mosque located inside the Silk Factory premises in the Raj Bagh area of Srinagar late on Wednesday evening. The mosque namely ‘Masjid Ibrahim (AS), built by the employees of the Silk Factory as a place for daily prayers, was reduced to ashes by the massive blaze.

Local residents told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the fire broke out suddenly, engulfing the entire structure within a short span of time.

Fire-fighting teams rushed to the scene to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. However, by the time the fire was brought under control, the mosque was beyond saving. “It’s heartbreaking to see a place of worship where we prayed daily, reduced to rubble,” said Bilal Ahmad, an employee of the Silk Factory.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections of law. [KNT]
