Srinagar, Dec 21, KNT: An unemployed youth from the Sonawar area of Srinagar city has accused a local vehicle dealer of cheating him after purchasing an Ashok Leyland XL Dost vehicle on finance, only to face repeated mechanical issues that have derailed his attempts to earn a livelihood.
The youth Mehraj Ahmed shared his ordeal, stating that he had invested in the vehicle to start a small business and support himself financially. However, just days after the purchase from the Sempora Dealer, the vehicle began to develop persistent problems. “The vehicle stops abruptly while I am driving, and this has caused immense frustration and inconvenience,” he told the news agency Kashmir News Trust.
Mehraj Ahmed said that he initially approached the company, which assured him that the issue would be resolved through maintenance. However, despite multiple repair attempts, the problem continues to resurface. “I handed over the vehicle to the company several times for repairs, but the same issue surfaces. I trusted them to deliver a reliable vehicle, but they have failed me,” he lamented.
“I am an unemployed youth who wanted to stand on my own feet. I had hoped this vehicle would allow me to work and support myself, but it has turned into a source of financial and emotional stress.”
He expressed his disappointment and anger, alleging that the dealer and company has cheated him. “They cheated me by selling me a defective vehicle. Every time I take it for repairs, they temporarily fix it, but the problem recurs. I am stuck in a loop with no permanent solution,” he said.
He said he has no option but to register a police complaint against the dealer and the company. [KNT]
