Five persons including a trooper die in Ramban road accident
RAMBAN: Five persons including a trooper were killed on Saturday when a cab skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge along the Srinagar-Jammu Highway in Ramban district of Jammu region, officials said.
They said a SUV was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar and it went out of control from the driver near Digdol area and fell into 500 deep feet in Bishlari stream.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban told news agency Kashmir News Trust that five persons have died in the accident. He said Army, Police and volunteers joined in the rescue operation and dragged out some of the injured form the Bishlari stream.
The bodies of victims including a head constable from 73 Battalion CRPF and a woman have been retrieved.
He said the condition of a man who was spotted alive is critical in the hospital.
Some of the people who died in the accident have been identified as Garu Ram son of Hans Raj, a resident of Talab Tillo Jammu, Vaneet Kour daughter of JP Singh of Gupkar Srinagar and Shagun Kumar of Kangra, a head constable of 73bn CRPF. (KNT)
