Police arrest two criminals for shooting an individual in Jammu
Jammu, Nov 12, KNT: Police today said that they have arrested two criminals in connection with a shooting a shooting incident that had occurred in Jammu’s Nikki Tawi area, leaving Imran Khaleel, a resident of Gujjar locality, injured.
The incident had occurred in the first week of November this month.
While addressing a press conference Superintendent of Police (Jammu Rural) Brijesh Kumar Sharma said that shortly after the incident the police responded swiftly and registered a case and formed teams to apprehend the culprits.
SP Rural said that after scrutinizing CCTV footage and questioning several suspects, the police arrested two individuals, Hussain Khatana and Ramzan, from T-Junction near the fourth Tawi bridge. The duo was traveling in a private Sports Utility Vehicle.

During the arrest, the police recovered 18 grams of heroin, a pistol, and 16 rounds of ammunition from the accused. Further investigation led to the discovery of additional evidence, including a pistol and ammunition, from their Rangoora locality residence.”
The police officer as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust said that interrogation revealed that the accused mistakenly believed Khaleel was an informer for a rival gang of drug smugglers, with whom they had a scuffle a day earlier. “This misunderstanding led to the shooting incident,” he said.
“Ramzan, one of the accused, has a history of criminal activities, with nine cases registered against him, including six related to bovine smuggling and three related to narcotic smuggling,” SP said adding that the police are considering booking Ramzan under the Public Safety Act.
Superintendent of Police Brijesh Kumar Sharma urged the public to support law enforcement agencies in achieving a “drugs-free” Jammu and Kashmir. [KNT]
