Massive Search Operation Underway in Gulmarg Sector After Militant Attack
Gulmarg, Oct 25, KNT: Joint forces including the Army, CRPF and Police swung into action on Friday, launching a large-scale search operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gulmarg sector of Kashmir Valley.
This massive search operation was launched after a militant attack in the Botapathri Gulmarg area that left five people including three soldiers dead.
Official sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the operation, which involves combing and searching, is focused on the LoC and the area surrounding the attack site.
“To ensure the attackers are brought to justice, security forces have sealed off all routes around the site,” they said.
Senior police and army officers are overseeing the operation, utilizing human and technical intelligence to track down the militants.
Sources added that there are suspicions that Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) may have been involved in the attack. “The BAT has a history of carrying out cross-border attacks, and their role can not be ruled out”.
The area is considered highly secure, with the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) located nearby and most importantly, there is a restriction on the movement of the local populace. [KN]
