Dialogue Only Solution: Mirwaiz Echoes PM Modi’s BRICS Summit Statement

Srinagar, Oct 25, KNT: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) chairman, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, addressed a gathering at Jama Masjid on Friday, reaffirming the organization’s dedication to peaceful conflict resolution.
Mirwaiz began by reflecting on his emotional reunion with colleagues, Professor Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, and Masroor Ansari, after more than five years. The meeting was poignant, as they remembered late leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Molana Abbas Ansari, Musaddiq Adil, Ashraf Sehrai, and others.
The APHC chairman expressed regret over the continued detention of colleagues and Hurriyat leaders, including Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah, Asiya Andrabi, Shahidul Islam, Nayeem Khan, Qasim Faktoo, Masarat Alam, Peer Hafizullah, and Ayaz Akbar.
Mirwaiz highlighted APHC’s consistent advocacy for peaceful engagement since its 1993 formation, amidst militancy. He noted that even thirty years ago, the organization proclaimed its commitment to dialogue and diplomacy.
Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement at the BRICS summit, Mirwaiz emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts, rather than war. He reiterated APHC’s willingness to engage with the current New Delhi administration.
Mirwaiz condemned recent incidents in Gagangeer and Gulmarg, calling for thorough investigations. “There has been too much bloodshed in Kashmir; it’s time for peace,” he urged. [KNT]
