In recent developments, a new scam known as the “Make instant money by liking YouTube videos” is making its way into the market, posing a significant threat to unsuspecting individuals.
Cyber criminals are leveraging platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, and more to target potential victims with false promises of quick earnings in exchange for simple tasks such as liking videos or subscribing to channels.
The modus operandi of this scam involves the initial contact being made through WhatsApp or SMS, where individuals receive messages offering part-time job opportunities and enticing them with the prospect of daily or higher earnings by merely engaging with videos or channels on YouTube.
To gain the trust of victims, the scamsters may even make small initial payments or returns. However, their ultimate goal is to convince victims to invest larger amounts for even greater earnings or returns. Once victims transfer significant sums of money to the scamsters, the perpetrators cease all communication, leaving the victims at a loss.
To safeguard oneself from falling victim to such scams, it is crucial to adhere to the following precautions:
-Exercise caution and refrain from responding to texts or calls from unknown numbers that promise unrealistically high daily earnings or returns.
-Avoid sharing personal details, confidential banking information, or transferring money to unknown individuals or entities.
-Be vigilant and promptly delete any emails or messages received from unfamiliar sources, especially those urging you to click on suspicious links or download unknown apps.
It is imperative to stay secure and spread awareness among your loved ones about these scams. Ignoring the warning signs can have serious consequences, so it is crucial to remain cautious and vigilant in the face of such fraudulent activities. (KNT)
