Militant killed in Kulgam encounter, 8 local militants killed in 5 encounters

A local militant was killed in a gunfight in Hoowra village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam, police said.

A policeman was also injured in the firefight and has been under treatment in the hospital.

Police said that the identity of the militant has not been ascertained yet.

With the killing of the militant in Hoowra, the number of local militants killed in the ongoing year has reached 8. Earlier, 7 local militants had been killed in 4 encounters at Budgam, Potgampora Awantipora, Wanigam Kreeri area and Karahama Kunzar areas of Baramulla. [KNT]
