Landslide Blocks Jammu-Srinagar Highway at Ramban; Traffic Suspended from Both Sides

Srinagar, May 9, KNT: Vehicular traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway has been completely halted following a landslide triggered by heavy rains at T2 near Ramban, officials said on Friday.
Authorities said continuous rainfall in the region overnight led to the massive landslide, making the highway impassable. As a precautionary measure, traffic has been stopped from both Jammu and Srinagar ends to ensure the safety of commuters.
“Due to inclement weather and landslide at T2 Ramban, the highway remains blocked and no vehicle movement is being allowed from either side,” a traffic department official confirmed.
Travelers planning to use the highway have been strongly advised to defer their journey until the weather improves and road clearance operations are completed. “People are requested not to travel on NH-44 until further notice. Please stay updated by checking the latest traffic advisories issued by J&K Traffic Police on their official Twitter handle, Facebook page, or through Traffic Control Units (TCUs),” the official added.
