Emerging threat from Vehicle-Borne IEDs on NHW discussed in security meeting

Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar Saturday presided over a high-level security meeting in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The special focus of the meeting was the emerging threat of Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) on national highway and other modes of potential militant attack.
Army’s GOC Victor Force Major General Prashant Srivastava, IG CRPF Kashmir Operations Sector M S Bhatia, IG BSF Ashok Yadav, Joint Director IB, Army’s sector commanders in South Kashmir, DIGs of police, CRPF, SSB, ITBP & CID and Senior Superintendents of Police of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Awantipora attended the meeting.
A police spokesperson said that during the meeting, potential threats from militants on national highway were discussed in detail and more counter-measures were decided.
He said that the SOP of the convoy movement was also discussed and accordingly upgraded.
“All field officers gave their assessment during the meeting,” he said.
ADGP Kashmir instructed all Senior Superintendents of Police to focus on anti-militant operations and busting of militant modules by apprehending militant associates. The officers were specially tasked to generate preventive intelligence and share it timely amongst all stakeholders.
