In Banihal conflagration incident a man died while property worth over Rs 2 crore was damaged.
The midnight fire incident in Banihal area of Jammu Kashmir’s Ramban district resulted in the damage of four shops including a roadside restaurant.
Banihal Beopar Mandal has meanwhile appealed to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and DC Ramban to compensate the losses and provide financial assistance to the family of a 56-year-old man who died in the fire incident.
Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a fire broke out in a medical shop that engulfed two other shops and a roadside restaurant belonging to one Bashir Ahmed.
They said medicines, electronic items, foodstuff, bedding, and other goods turned into ashes. Firefighters with the help of locals and police managed to control the fire after hard efforts. During the fire incident, a man from Kashmir, Ghulam Muhammad, a resident of Puroo Muqdam Mohallah Watnare area of Kokernag Anantnag sustained burn injuries and later on succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The deceased was working as a Waiter in the restaurant.
District officials visited to the spot to assess the quantum of loss. They assured the victims of all possible help from the administration. (KNT)
