Bear electrocutes after climbing a utility pole in Srinagar outskirts

Srinagar, June 11, KNT: Wildlife officials Sunday said that a bear was killed by electric shock when it climbed a utility pole in Chasma Shahi area of Srinagar outskirts probably to escape traffic and touched power lines.

The incident occurred Saturday late evening.

The bear after climbing on the utility pole came in touch with HT wire and died on the spot.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that bears sometimes climb utility poles the same way they climb trees when fleeing from danger.

He added that the carcass will be taken to a forest to get buried. (KNT)
