Army Assists in Restoring Power, Clearing Snow on NH-701

Karnah, Mar 6, KNT: In a swift response to heavy snowfall, the Army’s 104 Shakti Vijay Brigade facilitated the movement of Power Development Department (PDD) employees to Nasta Chhun Pass (NC Pass) for power restoration in far flung area of Karnah Kupwara.

Deputy Commander Col Sudeep Bose also inspected NH-701 from Karnah to Chowkibal, overseeing snow clearance efforts, particularly at Sadhna Top, where road connectivity remains disrupted. He assured that the Army and civil administration are working in close coordination to restore both electricity and traffic movement.

“We are continuously monitoring the situation. Beacon teams are on the ground clearing snow, and every effort is being made to ensure normalcy,” Col Bose stated.

Despite ongoing snow slides, BRO and Beacon teams are tirelessly working to keep NH-701 accessible. Locals have appreciated the Army’s timely intervention, and authorities have advised commuters to follow safety advisories as restoration efforts continue. [KNT]
