Former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Wednesday said that New Delhi is befooling them and the world over the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He said New Delhi is buying time and playing tricks.

Abdullah was talking to reporters in Srinagar.

He said that BJP led New Delhi  government is not interested in restoring the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “They don’t want to restore statehood. It is a gimmick to fool us and the whole world,” he said adding that New Delhi is directly ruling over Jammu and Kashmir and it will never give statehood and it doesn’t want an elected government to run the affairs.

“It’s only a wait-and-watch situation. We can’t do any. They are issuing new diktats on daily basis. What a slave society can do to counter it,” he said.

He said New Delhi had claimed that elections will be held once the delimitation process is over. “That process is over now and as per New Delhi the situation is normal in Kashmir, then what’s it that is holding them back from conducting elections,” he said adding that Lieutenant Governor installed by Central Government is looking at everything for the BJP.
