Apparently due to alleged traffic mismanagement on Srinagar Jammu Highway the government has transferred SSP Traffic Highway Shabir Ahmad Malik and attached him to the police Headquarters J&K with immediate effect.
For past some time fruit growers have been continuously protesting against the halting of fruit trucks on the highway. The series of protests forced the administration to issue a statement, clearing the road for the stranded trucks.
Though the government didn’t give any reason for the transfer of the top officer, yet it is believed that SSP Highways was transferred in wake of the fruit growers’ protest.
According to an order issued by R K Goyal, Financial Commissioner Additional Chief Secretary, Ms. Mohita Sharma (IPS) SP Ramban has been asked to hold the additional charge of the post till further orders. (KNT)
