JKPCC Chief Calls J&K Budget ‘Pro-People,’ Seeks Detailed Assessment

Srinagar, Mar 7, KNT: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra on Friday described the budget presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as “pro-people” and “positive,” while emphasizing the need for a detailed evaluation to identify any shortcomings.

Karra acknowledged that the budget prioritizes social welfare, particularly for underprivileged families. “It appears to be in favor of the people, covering key social sectors,” he said. However, he refrained from giving a final verdict, stating that a thorough review is necessary to determine if all concerns have been adequately addressed.

Regarding the provision of 200 units of free electricity for AAY families, Karra noted that Congress had also advocated for similar relief for economically weaker sections. He added that while the party has no immediate objections, it will closely examine how the budget is implemented.

“The budget looks positive overall, but we will analyze its finer details in the coming days,” he said.
