39 out of 78 militants killed this year in Kashmir were from Lashkar-e-Taiba: IGP
SRINAGAR: With the killing of two militants in Srinagar, police said that 78 militants have been neutralized till date in the current year.
Two militants whose identity has not been ascertained yet were killed in Alamdar Colony of Danama Eidgah area of Srinagar city. The gunfight raged during pre-dawn hours of Friday when Joint Forces cordoned off the area.
The house in which militants were present suffered damage during the encounter.
Police in a tweet confirmed the killing of two militants.
A police official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that the identity of the slain militants are being ascertained.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar said that with today’s operation, Police along with joint forces neutralized 78 militants in Kashmir Valley this year so far.
He said in these encounters most of the militants were affiliated with proscribed militant outfit LeT ( 39 out of 78) followed by Hizb, Al-Badr, JeM and Ansar Ghazwatul Hindh. (KNT)
