Policeman saves duo from drowning in Sumbal, another rescuer dies
Bandipora, July 27, KNT: A policeman rescued two minors from drowning in the river, however, another person in an attempt to save the same duo drowned to death himself in the Sumbal area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Local sources told the news agency Kashmir New Trust that two minors were taking a bath in the river Jehlum at Shah Mohalla Sumbal. A police constable Mushtaq Ahmed and a local Huzaif Hilal Shah (17) jumped into the river to save the duo when they started drowning in the river.
The police constable managed to rescue both minors, however, the 17-year-old youth drowned himself in the attempt.
They said that the police constable after rescuing the duo also tried to save Huzaif Hilal, but failed in his attempt.
Huzaif lost his life in the brave attempt to save the duo, they added.
Amid mourning the loss of the young man, the locals appreciated the efforts of police constable Mushtaq Ahmed from police station Sumbal. [KNT]
