Mirwaiz Claims House Arrest, Slams Waqf Bill

Srinagar, Apr 4, KNT: Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday alleged that authorities placed him under house arrest, barring him from offering prayers at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid.
“Another Friday, another house arrest—authorities’ Jama Masjid phobia continues,” Mirwaiz wrote on X, expressing his frustration over the restrictions.
He also criticized the recently passed Waqf Bill, calling it a move towards further marginalization of Muslims. “With the way things are regressing, a time may come when Muslims will need permission to enter mosques or even be buried in graveyards,” he remarked.
