Srinagar, Dec 20, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council has issued notice to private healthcare establishments, cautioning against employing unregistered medical practitioners. The council emphasized that allowing doctors without proper registration to practice is a violation of the rules, professional ethics, and the code of conduct.
The Council in a formal notice has stated that it has come to the notice of the J&K Medical Council that private hospitals/nursing homes/diagnostic centres/clinical laboratories/blood banks located in Jammu and Kashmir are allowing some practitioners to operate without having registration with the J&K Medical Council, which is against the rules.”
The council has strongly urged all proprietors and managing directors of private hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic centres, clinical laboratories, and blood banks to ensure compliance. They have been instructed not to allow any doctor, whether local or from outside Jammu and Kashmir, to practice or perform medical procedures in their establishments without obtaining permanent registration or additional qualification certification from the J&K Medical Council.
“Such actions violate the rules and constitute a serious breach of professional ethics and the code of conduct. The J&K Medical Council has taken serious note of this to safeguard human lives.”
To address the issue, the council has advised proprietors to instruct unregistered doctors to apply for registration online via the council’s official website. “Failure to comply with these regulations will lead to disciplinary action under the Professional Conduct, Etiquette, and Ethics Regulations, 2002.” [KNT]
