17 non-locals among 23 civilians killed  this year in J&K, 37 injured

Srinagar, Nov 9, KNT: At least 23 civilians including 17 non-locals have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir in militancy-related incidents in the current year.

Among the 6 slain locals, one person was killed during an encounter while another individual shot dead by militants was affiliated with the Bhartiya Janata Party
The data available with the news agency Kashmir News Trust reveals that at least 37 civilians including 22 non-locals were also injured in militancy-related incidents..

The data shows that  militants this year shot dead two non-local men from Punjab- Amritpal Singh and Rohit Mashi in Shaheed Gunj area of Srinagar. Militants also shot dead a non-local vendor Raja Shah Shankar from Bihar in the Bijbehara area of Anantnag. A govt employee and brother of a TA soldier Muhammad Razaq was shot dead by militants in Kundar village of Thanamandi Rajouri. A BJP sarpanch Aijaz Sheikh was gunned down by militants at home in Heerpora Shopian.

At least 10 pilgrims from UP and Rajsthan were killed and 12 injured after suspected militants fired upon a bus on way to Katra from Shiv Khori Ramsou in Pouni area of Reasi district of Jammu. A civilian Abdul Rashid was killed in Ahlan Gagarmandu forest area of Kokarnag encounter. Militants shot dead a non-local labourer from Bihar Ashok Chauhan at Wandana Malhora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian. Seven civilians including 3 migrant workers were shot dead by militants in Gagangeer Sonamarg area while 5 non-locls sustained injuries in the same attack.

Besides the civilian casualties, there were injuries also. A non-local cab driver DilrananJeet Singh from Dehradun was shot at and injured in Borihalan village of Shopian. A civilian was injured in a gunfight at Nowpora Sopore area of Baramulla. A Jaipur couple was shot at and injured in Yannar Anantnag. In Saida Sukhal village in Hiranagar Kathua, a civilian was injured in militant firing. Another civilian was injured in Gundhah village of Rajouri. A civilian suffered injuries in an encounter in Ahlan Gagarmandu forest area of Kokarnag encounter.  Two migrant workers from Saharanpur UP Usman and Sufiyan were injured in a militant attack at Mazhom Magam area of Budgam while a dozen persons were injured in a grenade attack in TRC Srinagar.

Furthermore, a 28-year-old worker from Akhnor Vasudev was killed in a mistaken identity incident by BSF near Regal Chowk along the international border in Samba district of Jammu region. [KNT]
