‘Asphyxiation’ leads to death of two minor brothers in Bandipora seminary

Two minor brothers studying at an Islamic seminary in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district were found dead under mysterious conditions at their Darsgah accommodation on Wednesday morning.

The father of the victims was also found unconscious and is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. It is believed that both the students died of asphyxiation.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a formal case in this regard.

The victims have been identified as 10-year-old Muneer Ahmad Chechi and his 9-year-old brother Tanveer Ahmad Chechi, both sons of Qasim Ahmad Chechi from Malangam, Bandipora.

The victims were studying at a seminary (Faiz-ul-Uloom) in Ashtangoo village of Bandipora.

Local sources said that the father and his two sons were found unconscious by Seminary officials and they were immediately rushed to hospital where doctors declared the siblings dead. [KNT]
