Srinagar Smart City: 83 projects still incomplete

At a time when Srinagar Smart City Limited faces ire from locals due to waterlogging after a few minutes of rainfall, there are still over 80 projects which have not been completed.

The pace of work has witnessed a sharp dip after the fruition of the G20 event in Kashmir Valley.

For the development and beautification of Srinagar city, the Srinagar Smart City Limited as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust has received Rs.388.40 Crore out of which Rs.309.19 Crore have been utilized.

Srinagar Smart City Limited has claimed that 42 projects have been completed so far and work is underway on 83 projects that will be completed in coming months under Smart City Mission Funds.

Srinagar Smart City Limited in response to a query raised by social activist MM Shuja under the Right to Information Act has claimed that it has laid safe and standard underground electric cables in Polo View and adjoining areas of Lal Chowk. The executing agency of the project is M/s HRCC Pvt Ltd.

It has been claimed that cables are laid through proper HDPE pipes of various sizes with proper sand cushioning in between HDPE pipes and on top warning tapes have been laid. It has been claimed that cables are highly insulated and are absolutely safe. Proper earthing is also done for ensuring the safety of people and equipment. [KNT]
