With the Supreme Court fixing July 11 to hear pleas challenging the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah hoped that the Supreme Court will list the case for hearings on a frequent basis.

Omar Abdullah said that he has complete faith in the judiciary and hopes that the rights snatched from the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be restored by the court.

While talking to reporters, Omar said that the incumbent BJP Government won’t restore the rights snatched from the people in August 2019. “We have least expectations from the BJP government and hope that only such rights could be restored through the interventional of the court,” he said adding that the BJP government doesn’t want Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir as its position is at the lowest ebb.

In response to a question, Omar Abdullah said that BJP doesn’t want opposition unity and has been trying to create a wedge everywhere, be it in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, or Karnataka. “Even in Jammu and Kashmir new parties are being created to divide the already existing political parties,” he said.

In response to a question, Omar Abdullah said that nobody compelled Shah Faesal to file a petition against the abrogation of Article 370 and now when he has withdrawn it, nobody forced him to do so. He said filing a petition and later withdrawing that was his own decision. [KNT]
