Police arrest man with 12 liquor bottles

A man from North Kashmir’s Bandipora was arrested by police in Central Kashmir Budgam for transporting liquor bottles illegally.

A police party from Humhama recovered 12 liquor bottles from his possession when he was intercepted at a checkpoint.

The accused is a resident of Aloosa Bandipora.

Police have registered an FIR vide number 83/23 under relevant sections of law.

Notably, liquor consumption in Kashmir is legal. Recently after the new excise policy new wine shops came up in different parts of Valley, particularly in Srinagar city, sparking protest and resentment from people.

Even owners of shopping complexes at specific locations including airports can sell beer to customers and it is all legal.  [KNT]
