At least four houses were damaged after a fire broke out in Chandpora Nai Sarak area of Srinagar falling under the jurisdiction of Kral Khud Police Station.
The fire broke out at about 9:30 of Friday late evening. Locals said that smoke emanated from a residential house and the flames spread quickly to other houses.
Fire-fighters were on job till the filing of this report. Locals said that more houses may come under the impact of fire as the area is congested one.
Meanwhile, a residential house was completely gutted in Shamsabad area of Bemina this evening.
In wake of fire incidents, Srinagar police warned shopkeepers of action for selling cheap and substandard heating appliances. In a tweet Srinagar Police said that there are many incidents of fire being reported in Srinagar district daily. Citizens are advised to keep basic fire safety equipment handy & also to only use authentic heating appliances. Legal action will be taken as per law against shopkeepers selling fake & duplicate equipment. [KNT]
