Former Jammu Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh Friday said that the statement made by the Chief Electoral Officer J&K during a press conference is a totally irresponsible one.
He lashed out at the CEO saying that the Government of India must clear the air as the statement has virtually ripped apart the Constitution.
He said that CEO’s statement has created chaos in Jammu and Kashmir. “I think he has made the statement about new voters in J&K out of his hand and has ripped apart the constitution,” he said.
Baig said the government of India should come clear over the issue.
He also said that he will attend the All Party Meeting if he is invited.
Former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah has called an All Party Meeting on Monday after the CEO’s statement that outsiders can too enroll themselves as voters in Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah has invited all the parties except the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party.
Earlier, Mehbooba Mufti had alleged that BJP wants 25 lakh, non-local voters, to get enrolled in Jammu and Kashmir so that it could install a ‘Fascist’ ruler. She said that intention of BJP is to de-franchise the people of Jammu and Kashmir. (KNT)
