Amid sloganeering against Ladakh UT Administration and DC Kargil, the flood-affected locals from Sangrah village of Kargil Wednesday staged a protest demanding water for drinking purposes.

The protesters hit roads and blocked the traffic. They said Kargil Administration failed to provide a regular water supply to the villagers.

“We have been suffering badly. We don’t have any drinking water and are being forced to use water from nallahs,” one of the protesters told KNT reporter.

The protesters alleged that despite repeated pleas, the officials have been ignoring them. The protesters also demanded that a water body passing through the village should be cleaned before it swells, making the work difficult.

“Hardships of the people have added the day when Kargil became UT. There is no accountability, no regulation and nobody gives a damn to address the problems of the people,” the protesters alleged. (KNT)
