Strong winds uproot trees, blow off rooftops in Southern Anantnag


Anantnag:  Strong winds, accompanied by lightning uprooted trees and blew off rooftops in several parts of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district yesterday.

Local sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that over a dozen trees were uprooted in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Srigufwara Police Station.

They said that some residential houses and cowsheds were also damaged due to the strong winds.

Local sources added that in Iqbal Abad area of town, the rooftop of a commercial complex was blown off. In some areas, the signboards have all fallen to the ground.

They said that power was disrupted due to strong winds.

An official confirmed that strong winds caused damage to the property, however, no loss of life was reported from the district. (KNT)
