Encounter underway in Srinagar outskirts Rail service suspended

Srinagar: An encounter is underway in Nowgam area of Srinagar outskirts.

Sources said that Joint Forces cordoned off Wanabal area of Nowgam during midnight and zeroed in on the house in which suspected militants were present.

There was heavy exchange of fire that continues till the filing of this report.

Two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

Meanwhile, keeping the situation in view, railway service from Baramulla to Banihal has been suspended for the day, informed a railway official.

Joint forces have cordoned off the inner and outer areas adjacent to the encounter site. (KNT)
