Power outage in parts of Kashmir after snow damages towers and transmission lines
Srinagar: At least half a dozen transmission towers have been damaged across Kashmir Valley, resulting in a power outage in multiple parts of Valley, official sources said on Wednesday.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that due to massive snowfall and accumulation of snow on electric wires and towers, more than 8 towers have suffered damages.
He said due to damages in transmission lines and towers, electricity in parts of Kashmir Valley has been badly hit.
Divulging information about the damages, the official said that three electric towers have been damaged in the Pantha Chowk area of Srinagar outskirts.

The official added that 220 Mega Watt Transmission Line has suffered damages at Kralwari area of Chadoora Budgam. This transmission tower supplies electricity from Kishanpur to North Kashmir’s Bandipora.
A transmission tower of PDD has also fallen flat in Balhama area of Srinagar outskirts.
The official further informed that three electric towers carrying a transmission line of 132 KV from Mir Bazar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam have also been damaged near Bozgam village. “The damage is massive and it will take time to repair them,” said the official.
The official said that the continuous snowfall has been making it very difficult for the men on the job to carry out the maintenance work.
“Our men are on the job and efforts are on to repair these the towers and transmission lines,” he added. (KNT)
