Locals capture youth while trying to ‘loot’ cash from a Batamaloo house

Srinagar: A youth was apprehended while his associate escaped from the spot after they barged into a house in Moominabad area of Batamaloo Srinagar on Friday.

A girl while narrating the incident said that unidentified persons entered their house when their aunt was sleeping and she along with her sister were present in the room. According to her, all the family members had gone to a nearby mosque to offer Friday prayers.

“Both the youth caught hold of us, tied us with a rope, and dragged us. They were demanding cash. I somehow managed to untie the rope and alarmed the locals. In the process, I sustained injuries in my hand and neck,” the girl said.

Shortly, after the alarm, locals managed to nab one of the assailants while another escaped from the spot. “We handed one of the assailants to police,” said a family member.

Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that two youth with an intention to loot cash entered into the house of one Muhammad Yehai Khan at Mominabad Batamaloo. One of them was captured by locals who has been identified as Umar Yousuf Wani of Firdous Abad Batamaloo. They said that investigation is underway. (KNT)
