Police arrest militant recruiter from Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal
Ganderbal: Police Friday said that it arrested a known militant of ‘The Resistance Front’ (TRF) responsible for recruiting individuals into militant ranks.
The arrested militant has been identified as Arshad Ahmad Mir, a resident of Sehpora, Ganderbal. He was arrested near a checkpoint at Khann village of Ganderbal when he tried to flee from the spot.
Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a police party of Ganderbal Police had established a MVCP near Khann village observed an individual Arshid Ahmed Mir to have come suspiciously close to the MVCP. The individual was challenged who instead of complying with the signs and command, tried to flee. The individual was overpowered and apprehended on spot.
Shortly after his arrest, Mir was booked under section 13, 39 of ULA (P) ACT and 7/25 of Arms Act at police station Ganderbal while during sustained questioning Mir was found as a staunch militant associate of Lashkar-e-Toiba/TRF whose name had surfaced during earlier investigations also.
Police said that during preliminary investigation the Mir has also been found involved in recruitment of his own brother Lateef Ahmad Mir who has already been arrested in FIR 57/21 under section 13, 39 ULA (P) Act & 7/25 Arms Act of Police Station Kheer Bhawani.
Police said that other individuals motivated and facilitated for recruitment by Arshid Mir are being identified and further arrests and recoveries are expected. (KNT)
