Covishield: ‘Second dose administered successfully; Srinagar man gets message from Health Department for his dead father

Srinagar: The family of a 68-year-old man, who died on 31 May this year, received a message from the Health Department on 10 November this current month that he had been successfully administered the dose of Covishield on 10 November 2021 at 6:48 pm and he may download his vaccination certificate from the internet.

It was on April 25 this year that the man, a resident of Nishat Srinagar, was given the first dose of Covishield. He died of illness on May 31, much before he was to be administered the second dose. On the evening of November 10, his son got a message on the registered mobile number that his father had been given the second dose of vaccine successfully. The message also had the link to download the vaccine certificate.

The son of the deceased told news agency Kashmir News Trust that it is not a random case. He said earlier also a number of people received such messages, even those got the texts on registered mobile number who had never taken any Covieshield dose.

“It is grave issue and need to thoroughly investigated,” he said adding that it brings to the fore gross mismanagement by the Health Department.

Efforts to contact Director Health Services Kashmir and Chief Medical Officer Srinagar didn’t materialize. (KNT)
