#Video: South Kashmir: Father escapes but his two sons arrested after bags of poppy straw recovered from hideout in the courtyard
ANANTNAG: Police recovered 27 bags of Poppy Straw weighing about 580 Kilograms hoarded in a hideout by a man in his courtyard in South Kashmir’s Ananatnag district.
Police in this regard arrested two drug peddlers and registered cases against them under relevant sections of law.
A police official said that police Station Bijbehara received a specific information through reliable sources that one Yousuf Reshi of Waghama Bijbehara has indulged in peddling of narcotic substances and accordingly has hoarded a large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house.
After getting the information, a team comprising of SDPO Bijbehara, SHO Bijbehara DO Sangam and Executive Magistrate concerned was constituted, who carried out the search of the said house.
During search 27 bags of Poppy Straw weighing about 580 Kilograms was recovered from the hideout in the courtyard of the said house. The owner of the said house Yousuf Reshi fled away from the spot, while other two persons namely Zahid Reshi and Aamir Reshi sons’ of Yousuf Reshi were arrested on spot and contraband seized. Further investigation in the instant case continues. (KNT)
