Rajouri Encounter: Army Officer killed in initial exchange of fire
Rajouri: An encounter broke out between militants and the Joint Forces in Thanamandi town of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Defense sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that there was an exchange of fire between militants and joint forces after a massive cordon and search operation was launched by the joint forces in the forest area of Thanamandi in Rajouri district after the presence of militants was confirmed.
They said that a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) sustained injuries in the initial exchange of fire who was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The gunfight was underway till the filing of this report.
Pertinently, on August 6 this month, two militants were killed by joint forces in a gunfight in the same area. (KNT)
