BUDGAM: A young girl died on spot after a vehicle she was sitting in turned turtle from the heights of Doodpathri and fell into plains.
Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a family from Kupwara was on picnic at Doodhpathri Budgam. Members of the family were sipping tea in the picturesque plains while a 25-year-old girl was sitting in the parked vehicle.
Much surprise to the family members, the vehicle (JK03J-6384) suddenly started moving and in a jiffy it turned turtle and plunged into the plains. The vehicle suffered heavy damage while the girl on board died on spot.
Eyewitnesses said that girl may have started the vehicle and lost control over it.
She has been identified as Saima Akhtar daughter of Abdul Rashid Dar of Kupwara.
Police meanwhile have registered a case in this regard. (KNT)
