Rice meant for Kupwara seized before being sold in black in Srinagar, Truck drivers arrested

After inquiry, it surfaced that as per the challan the rice (366 bags) has been loaded from FCI Godown Kralhar and was meant to be transported to Kulangam Kupwara but instead of taking the rice to Kupwara the drivers were on way to Srinagar for black marketing of said rice.

 

BARAMULLA:  Police seized two trucks loaded with rice meant for black marketing in North Kashmir’s Pattan area of district Baramulla.

The loaded trucks were supposed to unload rice in Kupwara but the drivers were on way to Srinagar to get the rice sold in black.

Both the truck drivers reside in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Divulging information about the incident, an official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that two trucks (JK02V-6397) & (JK09-3233)  on way to Srinagar from Kupwara were stopped at a check-point at Hanjiveera Pattan.

After inquiry, it surfaced that as per the challan the rice (366 bags) has been loaded from FCI Godown Kralhar and was meant to be transported to Kulangam Kupwara but instead of taking the rice to Kupwara the drivers were on way to Srinagar for black marketing of said rice.

Both the trucks were seized, and drivers arrested. The drivers have been identified as Jamal Hajam of Madmadow Kalaroos Kupwara and Jahangir Bhat, a resident of Bumhama Kupwara.

The official said that investigation has been set into motion and more arrests are expected in this regard. (KNT)
