LeT behind Sopore attack, Says Kashmir Police Chief
Dilbagh Singh as per news agency Kashmir News Trust said that the militants responsible for the attack have been identified and they will be brought to justice.
SRINAGAR: Holding banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba responsible for Sopore attack, Jammu Kashmir Police Chief Dilbagh Singh today said that attackers will be brought to justice sooner or later.
Singh made these comments on the side lines of the wreath laying ceremony of tow slain cops.
Pertinently, two cops and two civilians died when militants carried out an attack on a police party in North Kashmir’s Sopore. The slain cops were identified as Constable Wasim Ahmed Bhat son of Muhammad Saleem (657/IRP 3rd Battalion, a resident of Narbal Budgam and Constable Showkat Ahmed Parray son of Abdul Gani Parray (841/IRP 3rd Battalion) of Goripora Beerwah Budgam. A Sub-Inspector and an SPO were injured in the attack.

While divulging information about the attack, Director General of Police said that a police party led by Sub-Inspector Mahesh Kumar had been deployed in the town to ensure implementation of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour when militants carried out the attack. “Two cops and two civilians died in the attack while few sustained injuries,” he said.
In response to a question, Dilbagh Singh said efforts are on to nab the attackers. He said they are looking into all the angles of the attack.
Singh said that due to Covid-19 lockdown, operations against militants are not going at full pace, however, militancy is declining and forces still have upper hand. (KNT)
