2 years on: JK Bank paying rent but not making twin branches functional in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal

They appealed Jammu Kashmir Bank Chairman to make these two branches functional as soon as possible.

GANDERBAL: Jammu Kashmir Bank has been paying rent from past two years for the two ‘non-functional’ branches here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

One non-functional branch is situated at Kulan area of Kangan and another at Wusan.

Locals told news agency Kashmir News Trust that two years ago, Jammu Kashmir Bank authorites decided to open up two branches for the people at Kulan and Wusan areas. “The buildings were taken on rent and even sign boards were set up at both places. However, both branches were not made functional much to the discomfiture of the people,” they said.

Locals in Kulan have to visit Jammu Kashmir Bank branch at Gund which is 6-kilometre distance. Similarly, locals of Wusun also have to cover 6 to 8 kilometres to visit bank branch at Dursum Manigam.

“After our repeated requests, JK Bank authorities had acceded to our demand and decided to open up two branches for the locals at Wusan and Kulam. From past two years we have been waiting for the inauguration of these two branches. We have been suffering a lot,” locals said.
