Accident on Fotu La mountain pass: Kashmiri Truck driver killed, Conductor injured

Fotu La is a mountain pass on the Srinagar-Leh highway in the Zanskar Range which is at an elevation of over 13,000 feet and it the highest point on Srinagar-Leh Highway

LEH: A truck met with an accident in the mountainous pass of Leh resulting into the death of the driver and injuries to the Conductor.

Both the driver and the conductor (cousins) hail from Haknar Gund area of Central Kashmir’s Kangan town.

The accident occurred at Fotu-La Pass when the driver Muhammad Aslam Famda lost control over the truck and it fell deep into 200 feet deep gorge.

The truck (JK01P/8724) suffered damages while the driver died on spot. The 25-year-old Conductor Muneer Ahmed Famda sustained grievous injuries and is being treated at a hospital.

A police official told KNT that dead body has been sent to the native village of the deceased.
