Infiltration Bid Foiled in Baramulla, Two Militants Killed: Army

Baramulla, Apr 23, KNT: Two militants were killed along Line of Control in Uri Sector of Baramulla district after Army foiled an infiltration attempt under ‘Operation Tikka’.

According to the Chinar Corps, the heavily armed infiltrators tried to sneak into the Valley from launch pads across the LoC but were swiftly engaged by security forces, leading to a fierce exchange of fire. The army said that infiltration bid was successfully foiled by alert troops, and two militants have been killed.

The operation, which is still underway, has also led to the recovery of a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and other war-like stores from the slain militants.

The Army has not ruled out the possibility of more infiltrators being in the area, and combing operations are continuing.

Army termed the infiltration attempt as yet another failed move aimed at disturbing peace in Jammu and Kashmir. “It was another desperate bid to further destabilise the region, which has been witnessing increasing normalcy,” the spokesperson added. [KNT]
