Five Arrested in Ganderbal Theft Case, Stolen Gold Worth Lakhs Recovered

Srinagar, Mar 14, KNT: Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have cracked a burglary case, arresting five individuals and recovering stolen gold worth several lakhs.
A police spokesperson said that on September 12, 2024, Lar Police Station received a complaint from Abdul Rehman Shah, a resident of Check Yangoora, who reported that unidentified persons had broken into his house during the night of September 11-12 and stolen cash along with gold ornaments.
Following the complaint, an FIR (No. 42/2024) was registered, and an investigation was launched.
During the probe, police zeroed in on several suspects and brought them in for questioning. Those arrested were identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Gooru of Authkhroo Rabitar (currently residing in Parimpora), Hilal Ahmad Dar of Gund Roshan Rabitar, Adil Ahmad Sofi of Gund Roshan Rabitar, Javid Ahmad Mir of Guzhama Ganderbal, and Lateef Ahmad Dar of Wangipora Sumbal.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to their involvement in the burglary and also confessed to committing multiple thefts across different areas in the valley.
Based on their revelations, police recovered stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 5,50,588, including three gold pounds, eight gold rings, two pairs of earrings, a pair of jumkas, and a gold chain. Additionally, an Alto car (JK01J-7340), used in the crime, was seized.
Further investigations are underway, and authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
