Cyber Police Kashmir Cracks Down on Online Anti-India ‘Propaganda’

Srinagar, Apr 3, KNT: In a major offensive against online radicalization, anti-India propaganda, and the glorification of militancy, Cyber Police Kashmir has stepped up its surveillance and enforcement measures over the past three months, a police spokesperson said on Thursday.

According to the statement, 200 social media handles involved in spreading extremist content and misinformation have been identified, with half of them operating from outside the country. Many of these accounts have been blocked to curb their influence, while legal action has been initiated against key propagators, including multiple FIRs under relevant criminal laws. Authorities have also launched security proceedings against several individuals linked to such activities.

In addition to enforcement, Cyber Police Kashmir is actively working on counter-radicalization efforts. Several individuals who were influenced by online propaganda have been counseled and handed over to their families as part of a de-radicalization initiative.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring national security in both physical and digital spaces, vowing to continue proactive monitoring of online platforms to disrupt militancy-linked narratives and prevent the misuse of cyberspace for extremist purposes.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious online activities, assuring that Cyber Police Kashmir remains steadfast in its mission to create a safe and secure digital environment.
