Man Arrested for Murdering, Burning Body of Pregnant Teen Girlfriend in Maharashtra

A 38-year-old man, Shakeel Mustafa Siddiqui, has been arrested and remanded in police custody for allegedly murdering his 18-year-old pregnant girlfriend in Maharashtra’s Gondia district. Siddiqui is accused of strangling the young woman and burning her body in a remote forested area. Reports suggest that while the two were in a relationship, Siddiqui wanted to end it after she became pregnant and insisted on staying with him.

The crime came to light when police, led by station in-charge Ajay Bhusari, discovered a completely charred body in a field. An immediate investigation led to Siddiqui’s arrest within hours. He was produced before the court and remanded to police custody. The case was handed over to the local crime branch and Goregaon police, with multiple teams assigned to establish the victim’s identity and uncover the circumstances of her death.

During interrogation, Siddiqui confessed to the crime, Inspector Bhusari confirmed. He admitted to strangling the woman with a dupatta on February 10 in a field in Devutola before covering her body with a sheet and straw, setting it ablaze in an attempt to destroy evidence.
