Man Arrested After Gunfire Erupts Over Land Feud in Jammu
Jammu, Feb 3, KNT: Tensions flared in the Lale Da Bagh area on the outskirts of Jammu after a longstanding land dispute took a violent turn, leading to gunfire and an arrest, officials confirmed on Monday.
According to police sources, the altercation stemmed from a disagreement over a 21.5-marla plot involving Rekha Devi and Brij Raj Singh, a relative of the land’s former owner. The dispute, which had been simmering for days, escalated dramatically when Singh allegedly discharged multiple rounds during a heated exchange. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A video capturing the chaos quickly spread across social media, prompting swift action from law enforcement. Singh was taken into custody and booked under the Arms Act, while authorities are in the process of identifying and apprehending others involved in the altercation.
Local residents have expressed concern over the growing trend of land-related disputes turning violent, urging authorities to take preventive measures to curb such incidents in the future.
