Police Crackdown on Underage Driving Yields Positive Results in Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 18, KNT: The police drive against underage driving and unlicensed individuals in Kashmir capital Srinagar has significantly reduced traffic congestion on the city’s roads. The stringent action has received widespread appreciation from the public, with many urging law enforcement agencies to continue the campaign without leniency.

A police official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that numerous vehicles, primarily two-wheelers, have been seized from individuals driving without valid licenses. “The crackdown has been particularly effective in deterring school students from driving without helmets and licenses,” he said.

“Our appeal to coaching centers, schools, and parents has yielded positive results. We will take action against parents who hand over keys to underage boys and girls,” the police official said, reaffirming the commitment to continue the drive against violators.

Citizens have welcomed the police initiative, expressing relief and gratitude for the improved road safety. “This drive has brought discipline on the roads. We request the police to keep up the good work,” said a local resident.

“The sustained campaign aims to instill a culture of responsible driving and adherence to traffic regulations. By targeting underage driving and unlicensed individuals, Srinagar police strive to reduce accidents and ensure safer roads for all,” said the police official. [KNT]
