Bus Catches Fire Near Katra, Passengers Evacuated Safely
Reasi, Oct 4, KNT: A major disaster was averted today when a passenger bus caught fire due to a short circuit in the engine, but swift action by the driver ensured the safe evacuation of all onboard.
The incident occurred late afternoon near Nomain Naka, as the bus (JK02AN-4971) traveled from Katra to Jammu. The driver promptly stopped the vehicle and helped passengers disembark after noticing the engine blaze.
Reasi police said that, no injuries or loss of life were reported. Reasi police and fire emergency services rushed to the scene, provided assistance to passengers and extinguished the fire.
“Thanks to the driver’s prompt response, a potential tragedy was avoided,” said a police official adding that they worked efficiently to ensure passenger safety and douse the flames.
The bus was safely evacuated, and passengers continued their journey via alternative arrangements. [KNT]
